My blog

As I've got one of my favourite events coming up this weekend, I thought I'd write a quick piece about the reasons for loading up the trailer and bringing my work to you.

Helmingham Hall is an incredible place and I can't wait to exhibit there on Sunday - this'll be the last chance for you to look around the gardens as they close up for the winter after that:

When I exhibit around the local area, whether it be Norfolk, Suffolk or Essex, I get to meet the most interesting people and to show them examples of my work. 2 years ago, when I exhibited at Helmingham Hall, I met an interesting architect who lived in an old, converted oast house that's now a small complex of apartments. Just recently, she's been in touch and commissioned me to create a balustrade for her ... can you believe I got to work indoors!?

Read all about the balustrade here:  - it's been a really interesting project and one that I designed around her apartment and the surrounding area, featuring bullrushes and marbles:

I've got a couple of exciting weekends coming up - thought you might like to know about them: dates for your sunny summer calendar:

This weekend (30th June / 1st July 10am-4pm:), I'm at Ickworth House for their Country Estate Fayre - here's how they describe it: "Don't miss our new Country Estate Fayre with fun for all the family.

Browse wool and craft stalls, grab a bite to eat and head on a tour with National Trust team members to learn about our Estate and Gardens.Head to our kids (and big kids) zone for our storytelling village, games and traditional rides.

Enjoy a variety of country traditions and skills such as Morris dancing, Blacksmithing and wood carving. Not forgetting a chance to meet a Suffolk Punch Horse. You wouldn't want to miss it!"

I've been building a couple of arbours to take with me and show my adoring  public - they're bare steel so that they rust and form an amazing patina; they're around 9ft tall, 6ft wide and 3ft deep. Quite a handful to create as they fill my works...

Soooo, Summer's coming - maybe not today, maybe  not tomorrow but, having had a little taster of the sun, it feels as if it's just around the corner and I, for one, can't wait. Being a maker of many outdoor practical and whimsical creations, I absolutely prefer a bit of sunlight to showcase my work and demonstrate the things that could delight your home and garden. Here are a few ideas:

I've been out and about meeting lots of you at Halesworth, at Snape and in Framlingham this year already and am looking forward to a whole host of opportunities to bring my creations to you - take a look at my calendar and come visit - I'd love to meet you. Next one up for me at this time is the Essex Craft and Design Show; a 4-day outing at Hyde Hall in Essex - looking forward to that one. Following that, I'm exhibiting in a pub car park in Ipswich with That Sunday Market (watch this space!), and then at the spectacular Snape Maltings Vintage and Makers Market - always a great day full of fabulous creat...
