I thought I'd give you an overview of things I've got going on, and on the situation now that lockdown rules are beginning to ease.
As you know, I'm lucky enough to have been able to work all the way through this strange time but collections from my workshop were forbidden for a while. Well, I'm pleased to say that I'm now open for visits and I'd be happy to show you around my workshop and stock items that I've got and that you can take away with you. I'm fortunate to be able to work from a fantastic old barn in East Bergholt with plenty of outdoor space and so social distancing isn't a problem at all!
For those of you that want to know a little bit about the history of my workshop/barn, take a look at this video I made (there's a mention of the Spanish Armada!)
I've also now had a little shuffle around in my online shop and will be adding new things as they become ready for sale - if you follow me on social media, you'll know that I've got a beautiful leaf sculpture and a throne fit for a king (or queen), almost ready for you to buy. I've also restructured the options that you have when you buy something: for smaller items, there's a flat £15 delivery charge for anywhere in mainland GB; for larger items, I'm charging just £30 for delivery to anywhere in mainland GB. If you live in the highlands or islands, or across the water anywhere, I'm happy to get a quote for delivery. Of course, you're welcome to come and collect anything from my workshop and, if you live locally, I may be able to arrange to deliver myself.
In other news, I'm delighted to say that I've sold my original leaf canopy to some amazing clients. They have an incredible garden and the pics below show just how stunning the canopy looks with beautiful views of the Orwell Bridge in the background (you can just about see it through the trees). I've still got the second leaf canopy and bench in my online shop if this inspires you!?
I've had a couple of customers this month who have liked items that I've previously made, but who have smaller gardens - I'm so glad that they both asked about modifying existing designs as I'm always up for that. You'll see below the original designs with the modified versions: one archway that I made in smaller gauge steel and a bird feeder that was made much smaller than the original. As you know, I'm always up for some modifications and a bit of bespoke making - please do let me know if anything catches your eye but just won't fit in your home, garden or workspace.
For a bit of inspiration, always keep your eye on my social media feeds: Facebook, Instagram or Twitter or, if that's not your thing, take a look at the latest news and gallery areas of the website - I update both regularly.
I'm going to leave you with a funny story this month (sorry to those of you that follow me on social media and will have heard this!):
I showed you the dragonfly that I'd been working on in my last blog - it's been sat in my yard for a while as I needed the paint to fully cure. This week, I gave it a coating with phosphorous (glow-in-the-dark) paint so that it will 'light up' at night in my customer's garden - here it is in all its glory:
Unknowingly, I managed to get some of the paint on myself whilst spraying the dragonfly. That night, I woke up and scared myself half to death... laying next to me in bed was a glowing hand!!!
On that note, I'll wish you a great weekend and I'm looking forward to more great weather for the next few weeks. Do pay me a visit if you can - call first in case I'm out on an installation. See you all soon
